On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the country's first state-of-the-art wholesale fish market located in Chanduali. The event will be conducted from the National Agricultural Science Complex in Delhi, along the Delhi-Kolkata National Highway. Spanning one hectare and built at an estimated cost of ₹65 crore, this modern fish market is expected to significantly boost the income of fish farmers in Purvanchal, potentially doubling their earnings.
The funding for this project was a collaborative effort, with 60% provided by the central government, 40% from the state government, and an additional ₹10 crore contributed by the market committee.
Additionally, the foundation stone for a ₹100 crore integrated aqua park in Hirakud, Sambalpur district, will also be laid on the same day, as confirmed by officials.
Launch of Agricultural Initiatives
Officials indicated that the Prime Minister will initiate these projects via video conference from New Delhi. During this event, he will also launch the 'Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhan Kisan Yojana' and the 'Self-Reliance Mission' for pulses, with Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo, and other dignitaries in attendance at the state-level ceremony.
The Chief Minister's Office in Odisha shared on social media that the Prime Minister will digitally inaugurate the 'Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhan Kisan Yojana' and the 'National Crop Self-Reliance Mission for Pulses.'

The state-level program will take place at the Chief Minister's Agricultural Education House at OUAT.
According to Bhubaneswar's Mayor, Sulochana Das, the proposed retail fish market will cover 5.80 acres and will feature modern infrastructure for both wholesale and retail operations.
